A red Covert skin is the top of the normal case tiers, one step below a knife. It does not have to be expensive. We went through all 79 Covert skins in our database of 42 weapon cases and pulled the lowest listings across Skinport, Pricempire and market.csgo.com on 22 October 2026. Seventeen of them started under $30.

FT = Field-Tested, WW = Well-Worn, BS = Battle-Scarred. Prices only cover skins that drop from weapon cases, not collection or Souvenir skins.
Almost all of these come from cases released since 2018, which drop in large numbers. Only three, the Hyper Beast, Aquamarine Revenge and Battlestar, come from older cases, and those are cheap only in worn condition.

Cheap Coverts in Factory New
Worn copies are cheapest, but a few Coverts are affordable even when clean:

The cheapest three all have float ranges that stop at 0.70 or lower, so a bigger share of them are Factory New, which keeps the clean price close to the worn one. The AWP | Neo-Noir costs $37.64 in its cheapest condition and only $46.29 in Factory New.
StatTrak is not always more expensive
On our snapshot, several StatTrak Coverts had cheaper listings than the normal versions: a StatTrak MP7 | Bloodsport at $19.95, a StatTrak AWP | Chromatic Aberration at $21.35, a StatTrak AK-47 | Head Shot at $22.87 and a StatTrak M4A4 | Temukau at $23.11. At this price level StatTrak copies of a common skin can undercut the normal ones, so check both. Our StatTrak guide explains where the premium usually comes from.
Buy or unbox?
A Covert drops 0.64% of the time, about one in 156 openings. In the Kilowatt Case at $2.60 per opening, that is about $406 in cases and keys on average for a Covert, and you would most likely get one of the cheaper ones. With 17 Coverts available for under $30, buying is the cheaper route by a wide margin, as our case odds guide shows for every tier.
