Only 7 of the 42 cases in CS2 have gloves in the gold slot. They come in three generations, each with its own set of finishes, and the difference in value between them is huge. Here is which case drops which pair, how rare a clean pair really is, and what the gold slot of each glove case is worth.
The seven glove cases
Every glove case has 24 gloves: six glove types with four finishes each. The six types change with the generation.
| Generation | Cases | Glove types |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Glove Case, Operation Hydra Case | Bloodhound, Driver, Hand Wraps, Moto, Specialist, Sport |
| 2 | Clutch Case, Revolution Case | Hydra, Driver, Hand Wraps, Moto, Specialist, Sport |
| 3 | Operation Broken Fang, Snakebite Case, Recoil Case | Broken Fang, Driver, Hand Wraps, Moto, Specialist, Sport |
Cases in the same generation share exactly the same 24 gloves. So if you want a Sport Gloves | Vice, the Clutch Case and the Revolution Case give you the same chance; only the price of the case and its other skins differ.
Which finishes are in which generation
| Glove type | Generation 1 | Generation 2 | Generation 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sport | Arid, Hedge Maze, Pandora’s Box, Superconductor | Amphibious, Bronze Morph, Omega, Vice | Big Game, Nocts, Scarlet Shamagh, Slingshot |
| Specialist | Crimson Kimono, Emerald Web, Forest DDPAT, Foundation | Buckshot, Crimson Web, Fade, Mogul | Field Agent, Lt. Commander, Marble Fade, Tiger Strike |
| Moto | Boom!, Cool Mint, Eclipse, Spearmint | POW!, Polygon, Transport, Turtle | 3rd Commando Company, Blood Pressure, Finish Line, Smoke Out |
| Driver | Convoy, Crimson Weave, Diamondback, Lunar Weave | Imperial Plaid, King Snake, Overtake, Racing Green | Black Tie, Queen Jaguar, Rezan the Red, Snow Leopard |
| Hand Wraps | Badlands, Leather, Slaughter, Spruce DDPAT | Arboreal, Cobalt Skulls, Duct Tape, Overprint | CAUTION!, Constrictor, Desert Shamagh, Giraffe |
| Bloodhound / Hydra / Broken Fang | Bloodhound: Bronzed, Charred, Guerrilla, Snakebite | Hydra: Case Hardened, Emerald, Mangrove, Rattler | Broken Fang: Jade, Needle Point, Unhinged, Yellow-banded |
The odds of one specific finish are tiny: the 0.26% gold chance split over 24 gloves is about 0.011% per case, or roughly one in 9,200 openings.
Why Factory New gloves cost a fortune
Every case glove in our database has a float range of 0.06 to 0.80. Factory New ends at 0.07, so a Factory New pair needs a float in that narrow band between 0.06 and 0.07. Using the game’s wear chances, only about 0.6% of unboxed gloves come out Factory New, while about 59% land in Field-Tested.
You can see it in the prices. On 13 October 2026 the lowest listings for the most expensive Factory New pairs were:
| Gloves | Factory New |
|---|---|
| Sport Gloves | Hedge Maze | $32,377 |
| Specialist Gloves | Crimson Kimono | $9,630 |
| Moto Gloves | Spearmint | $5,918 |
| Driver Gloves | King Snake | $2,359 |
| Hand Wraps | Slaughter | $1,675 |
Most pairs on the market are Field-Tested to Battle-Scarred, and that is where the cheap ones are.
What the gold slot is worth per case
Taking every glove in a pool with its wear chances and current prices, the average glove is worth:
| Generation | Cases | Average glove | Gold value per opening |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Glove Case, Operation Hydra | about $931 | about $2.42 |
| 2 | Clutch, Revolution | about $122 | about $0.32 |
| 3 | Broken Fang, Snakebite, Recoil | about $137 | about $0.36 |
First-generation gloves are worth about seven times more than the newer ones on average. That is why the Glove Case is the best-returning glove case in our expected value ranking at 62.7% per opening, while the Revolution Case returns 30.8%. Neither returns what it costs.
The cheapest pair of each type
If you just want gloves on your hands, buying is far cheaper than unboxing. The cheapest pair of each type we found:
| Type | Cheapest pair | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Hydra Gloves | Rattler, Field-Tested | $26.97 |
| Driver Gloves | Racing Green, Battle-Scarred | $27.38 |
| Moto Gloves | Transport, Field-Tested | $33.69 |
| Hand Wraps | Desert Shamagh, Battle-Scarred | $35.58 |
| Specialist Gloves | Buckshot, Well-Worn | $37.71 |
| Broken Fang Gloves | Yellow-banded, Field-Tested | $41.06 |
| Sport Gloves | Bronze Morph, Well-Worn | $64.70 |
| Bloodhound Gloves | Guerrilla, Battle-Scarred | $70.61 |
Gloves are never StatTrak, so there is no StatTrak premium to think about.
Which glove case to look at
- For the most valuable possible pair: Glove Case or Operation Hydra, which hold the first-generation Sport and Specialist finishes.
- For a specific newer finish: pick the cheapest case in its generation, because cases in a generation share the same gloves.
- For gloves at all: buy the pair. At about one in 385 openings for any glove, the expected cost of unboxing one is far above the price of a cheap pair.
