Valve’s Rush Hour update landed on 22 September 2026 (early on 23 September in Europe), and it is mostly a gameplay patch: a new 3v3 mode, silent reloads and a new Premier map pick. Two parts touch your inventory, though: stickers now go on the C4, and the weekly drop has a new option that has nothing to do with skins.
Stickers on the C4
You can now apply stickers to the C4, the same way you do on weapons. Find the C4 in your inventory (under equipment), choose Apply Sticker, pick an unused sticker and place it. The bomb takes up to five stickers, including on the back of the model. Every player already has a C4, so there is nothing to buy.
The usual sticker rules apply: you can scrape a sticker, and removing it destroys it. It does not go back to your inventory.
The market reacted right away. CSMarketCap reported daily jumps of 558% for Sticker | Bomb On Board and 260% for Sticker | Bomb Code, with smaller moves on other bomb-themed stickers. These were thin markets, so treat early spikes like these as speculation rather than a new price level.
Pet chickens in the weekly drop
The update also shipped a feature Valve left out of the patch notes: pet chickens. According to PC Gamer and other outlets that tested it, a chicken egg can show up as one of your weekly drop choices. Picking it uses both drop slots for that week, so you give up the case and the skin you would otherwise get.
What we know so far:
- The egg hatches after about a week in your inventory.
- The chick needs feed, which also comes from drops, to grow into an adult chicken.
- There are three breeds (reported as Catalan, Silkie and Polish) and 34 to 35 color variants, depending on who counted.
- You can name it, take photos of it and have it ride on your shoulder in the loadout screen.
- The egg, the feed and the chicken are untradeable and cannot be sold.
That last point matters if you farm drops for value. An egg week is a week without a tradable case or skin. Valve’s follow-up patch on 5 October added localized text to the pet photobook pages, so the system is here to stay.
Rush mode and the gameplay changes
The headline feature is Rush, a queued 3v3 mode. Teams fight through a chain of small arenas toward the enemy castle, and controlling the tower wins the round. Valve has since fixed Rush clipping and adjusted its timers in several small patches.
Other changes in the update:
- Silent reloads: hold the reload key to reload without sound, but more slowly. Unscoping a sniper rifle is now silent too.
- Premier map selection: the veto is now a pick. Team 1 picks one map, Team 2 picks two, Team 1 picks a last one, and the game chooses one of the four at random.
- Crosshairs: they no longer depend on resolution, there is a new Crosshair/Scopes settings tab, and the default style is now “Dynamic Quad”.
- Store: the Starjunk 95 music kit “Industrial Sunset Memories” arrived in normal and StatTrak versions.
What it means for skins and cases
No new case, terminal or collection came with Rush Hour or the patches after it. If you are waiting for new knives or gloves, nothing has changed.
